Spay It Forward

is a needs-based discount program to assist community members who would not otherwise be able to afford spay or neuter services for their dog or cat.

How do you get started?

• Spay It Forward is currently open to residents of Ward, Boutineau, McLean, Mountrail, McHenry or Renville Counties in ND.
• Applications will be reviewed once per month and applicants will be notified via email if their application is approved. The number of discount certificates to be awarded each month will be determined based on available program funding and are limited to one discount certificate per pet.  For households with multiple pets, they can only receive one discount certificate per month, but may apply in different months for additional pets.
• Approved recipients will be awarded a $50 discount certificate to reduce the cost of spay/neuter service for their pet. The discount certificate is valid at either Pinkerton Animal Hospital, Severson Ahart Community Clinic, Towner Animal Health Clinic or West Oaks Animal Hospital and can only be used toward spay or neuter service.  Any other services received and the remaining cost of the spay/neuter service are the responsibility of the pet owner and are payable at the time of service.
• If awarded a discount certificate, you are responsible for scheduling your appointment with the clinic you designated on your application.  Please notify the clinic that you are using Spay It Forward discount certificate when you schedule your appointment.  Failure to show up for your scheduled appointment (no call/no show) or failure to reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if unable to make the surgical appointment will result in the discount certificate being voided and a $40 fee being added to your clinic account.  Discount certificates expire 5 months from the issue date.

The Spay It Forward discount certificate is intended for pet owners who cannot afford a regularly priced spay or neuter surgery.

To be eligible for a Spay It Forward discount certificate that will subsidize part of your pet’s spay/neuter surgery you must meet all of the following criteria:

• Your pet is healthy and needs to be spayed or neutered,
• You are on a needs-based form of public assistance, and/or
• You (single person) make less than $35,000/year or
• Your (multiple-earner) household makes less than $65,000/year.

*You will be required to upload proof of income and/or receipt of public assistance before your application will be reviewed.
